This place in Glenwood Springs, including the world's largest hot-springs pool, is part of the "Spa of the Rockies," and Coloradans and visitors don't let a little snow or bitter-cold temperatures keep them out of the water. The spring waters have soothed the landscape for millions of years — and health-seekers for a couple hundred or so. Large though the pool is, would you believe that 3.5-MILLION gallons of really, really warm, mineral-rich water flow through the facility each DAY? More than 1 million gallons fill the pool at any one time. Believe it! For you geology freaks out there, the water is heated by a geothermal gradient as it percolates through the bedrock. The water is kept at about 90 degrees Fahrenheit, maybe by tossing ice cubes into the hot water?? I photographed it in the summertime too. More people in the pool then.
