Description
Untitled box-like art, sometimes called "Judd's cubes," by "Minimalist" artist Donald Judd (1928-1994) -- though he detested the "minimalist" description -- on the grounds of the Chinati Foundation, or La Fundación Chinati, a contemporary art museum in Marfa, a surprisingly sophisticated town in the Texas high desert that has cultivated a reputation as a center of the arts.
The Chinati Foundation, founded in 1986 by Judd, presents permanent, large-scale installations by a limited number of artists. The foundation is located on 340 acres of land on the site of former Fort D. A. Russell, which included this semicircular, quonset-hut-style building.
